Ron Howard’s Rush Trailer Released

If the trailer is anything to go on, Ron Howard has taken his look at the rivalry between Hunt and Lauda very seriously. Even better, there are darn few obvious uses of CGI racing in these clips. I don’t know why Hollywood can make perfectly realistic dinosaurs or Gollum, but every instance of CGI auto chases plows straight into uncanny valley and looks like crap.

I think the CGI looks a little…overbearing. But I still think the movie could be well worth watching. I still think it would have been better to use the actual crash footage interpsersed with live action rather than video game style angles of the accidents that actually take you out of the action by putting you in physically impossible places.

The CGI makes everything look too perfect…. but I guess that’s better than not having a movie at all. I think a 1930’s Silver Arrows movie could be great too…

This looks reasonably promising to me, especially given that the last big budget movies to tackle motorsports that I can think of were The Fast And The Furious (What are they on now, like the 9th underglow-and lambo-door-ridden installment?), and Talladega Nights.

Oh, please…not more Hollywood drama “based on a true story”. Let’s see more cars and less actors trying to be cool. Too many Americans get their history by watching movies already.

Ford vs Ferrari. Good film, but they mislead the audience. Mr. Shelby had already beaten Mr.Ferrari. With his Daytona coupe. Whereas three years prior Shelby had come back from the middle of the season to beat the Ferrari team. Shelby needed the last couple of races to win the championship. But tricky Mr Ferrari saw the writing on the wall and had the last couple of races canceled and sealed the championship for the red Italian team. The following year Shelby whooped em. Then that is when Mr Ford said I want to whip Ferrari too. Then the film started from there. The film made it appear that it was the first time an American team won the 24hr races.

Sorry off topic question here. Does anyone have info on the mid 50’s 3.5 mi Brynfan Tyddyn coarse? It was held at Pa State Senator’s T. Newell Wood’s estate. Near Harvey’s Lake Pa. I’m from this area and never heard about this place. It was only on the schedule for 5 yrs. It was deemed too dangerous. But I love vintage racing. My favorite place to be is at Watkins Glen NY. Which is only about one hr away from Harvey’s Lake area. I would love to see a map of this old coarse. So please anyone with info wolf be greatly appreciated. Sorry for all grammar and spelling errors.
