Faster ≠ More Interesting

Ok. That’s a LOT faster. But watching cars with short lap times not pass each other isn’t exactly gripping entertainment. I’m not 100% sold on modern GT Racing either, but at least the cars seem to be more evenly matched.

Agree. I do miss the head to head, wheel to wheel GP racing of yore. But, then again, you’ve got to be awed by the absolute speed/grip the GP cars have achieved. For sheer spectacle, this superimposed comparison makes the point. Nicely done.

HOLY CRAP! I do enjoy a good GT race, it’s nice to see cars racing against each other that don’t all look the same and have the same basic set up. I caught my first FIA GT1 race the other day on SPEED and was intrigued to see Aston Martins going at it with Lambos, Maserati, Corvettes and even Nissan GTRs. Cool to see all the different marques and layouts going wheel to wheel. Sorry to see that there were no Ferraris or Porsches present. Hope that changes soon.

The 2010 F1 season was probably the best in years, but I still prefer the sports prototype endurance racing (American Le Mans Series). The passing may be a little artificial due to multiple classes (proto and GT) running in the same race, but the variety is nice. This is a GREAT video…
